17/06/10 - WOD

Coach M teaching the Rev how to walk on your hands! Nice work guys!

Todays workout was the infamous FILTHY FIFTY (no explanation needed)

The Rev tackled the main site of muscle ups, one legged squats and walking handstands - he skipped the rolly polly's!

  1. As I was telling someone today, there are good coaches and there are great coaches. The great coaches put themselves in harms way for the sake of their trainees, some even take a boot in the back of their head for their troubles. (Sorry about that Mat) Another great night at FunctFit.
You've heard of Charlies Angels right? well functFit had their own Angels working flat out on the 50. Big shout to Nimmi, Shell & Ceri, oh and lets not forget Boswell - James. Great effort guys!

  4. Matt (SP) - Just come from an hour’s coaching 1–on-1 with Mat (Coach M) on getting Power Cleans. My previous PR was 70kg, a weight a few boys at Funct Fitness can manage but getting over that weight is no longer down to muscle alone, technique is the KEY! After an hour with Coach M working on many small areas of technique made a huge difference and I finished with a new PR Power Clean of 85kg – over a 20% increase in weight. I’m not posting this to big myself up (maybe just a bit) but to emphasize what a difference having someone with Mat’s expertise working with you can make and to encourage anyone who wants to make real progress with Olympic Lifting to book some 1-on-1 sessions with Mat!! Cheers mate, I’m buzzing!!

  5. Great Job Phys!!!!
I'm buzzing for you bro, great effort, wish I could have been there. What you say in your post about the Coach is 100% spot on! You're intitled to big yourself up as well, your hard work over the last 6 months speaks for itself in your performances!
(to many !!!!!'s in my post I think)

  6. Matt (SP) - You may not have been there in body Rev, but your spirit was lifting all 85kg of that weight with me! Last bit of advice Mat gave me when I was setting up for the lift was 'stop thinking and just clean the f**king bar' - CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. It's a good thing i discovered crossfit when i did! I've gone down to shop physical today only to dsicover i've only lost over 2% BF in just over a week from 13.6% to 11% and my muscle weight has gone up from 11st 2lbs to 11st 7lbs.

Forget your chest, tri's and 20 minutes cardio!

Crossfit is definitely the way forward in life!
