"Murph"
1 Mile Run
100 Pull ups
200 press ups
300 squats
1 Mile Run
Well done to everyone who took part in todays "Murph" (and there were a lot of you)! Impressive effort - even if you did have a hangover Jamie!! The Rev and Coach M were dragged into the battle and subbed pull ups for hand stand press ups (completely insane)! Good effort to Jack, Adam, Gary, Craig, Chris (sorry if I have forgotten anyone) and of course the Girlies - Sian, Rhiannon, Rhian and Nia!!!!!
Once upon a time there was a fitness coach, who had a dream. To bring a new form of fitness training to the Bridgend area. So he set of on his quest which took him to foreign shores where he rubbed shoulders with world champions and brought us back Crossfit. While away it was mentioned by others on the same quest that some of these workouts might seem insane! the answer given by our coach was simple, some of my gym members will laugh in the face of this madness because indeed they are madder themselves!
ReplyDeleteI only turned up on a rest day Sunday to practice the butterfly kipping technique and was greeted by what looked like more people than run the London marathon waiting for Jamie(the mad one as refered to above who requested todays WOD). I tried to plead my argument with Jack & Chris that rest was good but Mat was up for it even after his monumental efforts with the 85kg walk yesterday. So off we set, I must confess (as the Rev) that form wasn't great in the middle part of my HSPU, they were tough today, enjoyed the running mind you even though my legs were heavy from DU yesterday. Well done to all the Girls, all the boys especially Gary (who flew), Craig (Great power) and Chris who didn't give up. Thanks to Mat and Claire for setting it up. Loved but smashed
The Rev
Oh sorry also thanks to Jamies' boy who came up with a nice idea to keep me going!
DU's looking good Machine!!!
ReplyDeleteRev
Rev you truely are insane! You a living legend for real, got to say the maddest one was you who roped me into doing HSPU in the place of some ups of the pull variety. It's a pleasure for me Claire and I to turn up on a Sunday and have so many great people waiting to meet Murph (you included Rev). The butterly can wait as one new movement a week is a stedy way to success. Great effort from all, like I said it's a PLEASURE!
ReplyDeleteOh aye, I'd forgotten about mentioning the HSPU, they were ballistic today. Yeah, yet again you speak wise words coach, one step at a time, I just end up getting a bit too excited!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear most of the guys mentioning the web site as well. The photos are awesome, as good as I've seen on a crossfit site! Lets keep the comments going too. (I think we might be up for a Sony entertainment award if we carry on). How did the workout go for you today Girls and Boys.
This is what it did for me:
Pushed quite hard on the run but left a little in the tank to head into the HSPU, Push ups and squats. That cycle was tough! Left everything go on final run and gave it all I had, I think that doing Murph before helped with this. I find that if you've given it your all, even though your body is screaming at you at the finish, soon after it starts to say thank you and you really feel the benefits of recovery. I was so relaxed this afternoon I got lost while wandering around M&S and only realised this after being stood in the ladies underwear section for about 5 mins. At which point I calmly left and got lost again, but thats another story.......
last post from Rev, sorry forgot to leave my name
ReplyDeleteDear Rev
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see you today having only had contact with you through prayer and the Funct Fitness website.
I am however a little disappointed as I turned to you for advice today only to feel a little let down.
You advised me that yesterdays workout was a better option than todays. So I followed your advice as a man of the cloth only to be left with no skin on my hands from the Knees to elbows! I have now been left to light duties as I can't immerse my hands in water and am concerned with my capabilities of carrying out whatever workout tommorrow brings. So as a man of the cloth I was wondering whether you could use your powers to post a workout that doesn't include pull ups!!
I will watch the main sight tommorrow morning and see whether you truely have connections with the powers that be.
p.s I was flattered you were impressed with my double Unders!!! Cheers much appreciated.
DEAR REV, today was beast of a workout for me
ReplyDeletemy hands are ripped, my body is busted, and i cant hardly get of the sofa without the wife laughing, thanks to everyone today had a great time, all the help really makes a difference, in getting to the end, the rev ,gary, craig,

but i think im starting to enjoy it,err (ls)
M, it's all that power you generate girl combined with your never say die attitude! The Bionic woman, faster, fitter, stronger(than the rest of us mere mortals). longsocks managed some nice rips himself on the pullups today, it was that kinda day.
ReplyDeleteThe Rev
Nice to read your comments LS, words spoken of a true crossfitter. You really found your range on that last mile run and powered it home. Reminds me of how I felt after doing one of the named workouts as Mat and Claire will recall. The eyeball shaker. Great job LS!
