gutsiest, geraint was a animal,rx'd the workout
keep it going fella, max beasted the farmers walk, and gav almost made me quit crossfit for good, phew!, bye the way i noticed a programme on tv monday nite called rev, thougt it was about our rev, and his exploits at funct fitness, no wonder he's been so busy lately,
shame it was man of the cloth, not a man of crossfit, will have to pitch the idea to s4c,

  2. Nice post LS, I spotted that imposter! Great idea though, lets think BIG, I want a prime time spot on BBC 1 with Gary Lineker hosting. Maybe some fit bird instead of Lineker, perhaps she'll bring in bigger ratings.

On tonights WOD late commitments left Rev with:
1 round at 73kg overhead walk (Clean & jerk)
4 rounds at 64kg overhead walk
    30 burpees 5 rnds
30 kg DB farmers walk 5 rnds
    time 25:50
I tell you, once finished I walked up the street to loosen the old legs. I had on:
    1 pair of shorts
1 set of compression bandages covering both legs
1 set of compression socks (knee length)
    1 set of wrist straps.
There was a gang of kids on the bridge opposite, once they spotted me I could hear them laughing at my outfit. The sweat was pouring from me so much that their images were a bit of a blur, I was a mess. As I turned to face them their laughing soon stopped, I turned back around said nothing and headed home. Through their silence I could hear on of the boys say to the others - "what the F*** has he been doing?". I replied quietly - "Crossfit" and carried on my way. I know my WOD wasn't the mental thing you guys did but as the Machine, Mat and I were discussing on the weekend it was.............uncomfortable.

  5. Some big work done this morning by all me and k-star got 85kgs on the clean with SP just missing out on 75kgs, with a little bit of work that will be 85 soon enough. Machine got a big 50kgs and Ash 70, Ash also got his name on the muscle up board. For those who don't know wot a muscle up is or if you're not a funct fitness regular google it. Also to anyone reading this who doesn't train with us all if you really think you are an all round athlete try training with us if your not too scared that is!!!

  6. Just gone to post at main site, reading some of the comments, stumbled on a great reply by "body-mechanic" so went and found the question posed by "help". It's what you've been telling me all along Mat!
Fantastic totals by the good morning FF team especially K-Star and The Machine. I could tell you were up for it Keith. Ash great job on the MU. I love a new name on the board! The Rev didn't reach the dizzy heights of K-star tonight but managed to get a round of 73kg in albeit power cleans to front squat. However when I think back to when I started 42.5kg was a challenge.
See you all Thurs night guys for the confessional!

  7. Just a quick note for you all, John Lloyd or chief had 90 kgs and 2 reps at 95 at a body weight of 70 kg. That is a massive lift and with loads of people there willing the bar up it was like a scene from the games. When the Chief started oly lifting only a few months ago his 1 rm was 60 kgs, if he keeps improving like this we can all look out. Great work John and all there at the clean session tonight, also Rev if you were there maybe the almighty would have helped out with that last 90 kgs for tonights main man. The 2 young guns showing what they are made if today and i'm proud to see it happen!

Indeed Mat, and now that the day is done I shall thank the Lord for what has been a truly wonderful day at the temple of pain and give praise to all that train on its hallowed turf (well rubber matting really). Amen brothers

  9. The fact im cleaning so much at my age and weight just shows that size has no relevance what so ever, even in youth rugby. Theres alot of boys coming into their first year of youth always going on about how they are in the gym 5 days a week bulking up when their not actually getting bigger.

Even if they say they've gone from 10 reps of 25kg dumbells in each arm to 30kg on the chest press, they are not as strong as they think. I was that player once myself, but since discovering crossfit I've have truly realised size means f*** all and that you need to do proper strength work and this has only gave me the satisfaction of bouncing boys twice the size of me and I shall be looking forward to doing more of the same next season.

Im not trying to big myself(a little bit maybe) but this does show that you have to take a long hard look at whether your basic hypertrophy training sesions of chest, tri's and 20 minutes cardio is really giving you the results that you always expected before you actually realise that something has to change.

It's just a matter of time before people realise this.

    The Chief.

  10. less talk of bouncing boys now Chief, on a serious note your training is going great at the minute, shifting a very impressive weight. Now its time to work on the things you dont like such as high rep strength endurance, I know its hard and you get out of breath and start to sweat but train so you have no weak area's thats the way to an all round athlete. Keep it up Chief "deont wish it was easier, wish you were better"

  11. Chief, Did you write all that yourself? If so I'm impressed. 'Hypertrophy Training Sessions'eh!
I'm not only impressed with your training lately but our use of vocabulary. I'm off to get my dictionary now to find out what it means!

  12. Don't worry bout the dictionary Machine, Jack is the boy to explain 'Hypertrophy Training Sessions' when he decides to come back!!!!!!!
Mat (FF) is right though Cheif, there aint much point in bouncing off big boys if your lungs can't get you over the try line mate!
Enjoy the glory while it lasts, the boys are coming to get you!

  13. OOhhh!! Fighting talk.Great. Things are hotting up. Loving it. When's everyone in next I need to book a day off!!! I have to say though my loyalty is with you SP. No offence chief. Anyway who's Jack?

  14. Yes I did write all that out myself. Im not as dull and brain dead as I show myself to be and yes I think that the high rep endurance is something I really need to work on, but I think my endurance has really been starting to show over the last two weeks, but there's more yet to come.

SP you better start backing those words up!

Most of us are in on saturday I think machine.

    The Chief.

  16. Ah, Chief, wise words from the coach yet again. Listen and learn young fella. Your effort last night was fantastic, it's really sent a buzz around the gym but yesterdays gone (as has today) and who knows what tomorrow will bring- OK I know you all know it's rest day. However my point is this, as Mat has said, work on those weakness, remember those WODS that kick you in the ass, that leave you saying to yourself-"what the hell was that!" feed off them and I'm sure it will make you into a far better player not only on the rugby field but in life in general. Hmm the impetuosity and passion of youth, what it would be like if I were young again! Oh well.
Saw the clean vid SP, I love it! Great form dude, wish I could clean like that. One day Rev, one day.
Nice selection of posts tonight makes interesting reading. Can I borrow the dictionary next week please? Where is Jack?
    Jack...Jack...Hallo?
